Downer-Stone Wedding
One of the pleasantest events of the week was the marriage of Miss Carrie E Downer, on the 24th to T.J. Stone. The spacious and elegant parlors of the family residence on Santa Teresa street were most beautifully decorated with rare and lovely flowers, the gifts of many friends. At 2:30 o'clock the rooms were comfortably filled by expectant friends, the daughter of the groom, Miss May Stone, playing the lovely wedding march as the bridal party entered the parlors. The bride wore a handsome heliotrope silk, and her only ornaments, a wreath of orange flowers, the gift of a friend. The impressive and beautiful ceremony was performed in an eloquent and pleasing manner by the Unitarian minister of San Jose, the Rev N.A. Haskell. The presents were numerous and elegant, the bride having a large circle of appreciative friends. After the congratulations and a few timely remarks by the inspirational speaker, Mrs. Grossett, a sumptuous repast was served, immediately after which the bridal party, accompanied by friends, were driven to the narrow guage depot, taking the 4:45 train for Santa Cruz, from there to Monterey and Pacific Grove. They will be home after October 2d. | Family: F107

RIDLEY - DOUGAN
Seneca Castle, N. Y. - One of the prettiest home weddings that have occurred in this village in a number of years was celebrated at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Dougan on the occasion of the marriage of their oldest daughter, Margaret, and Gerelle Ridley of this place, the marriage taking place on the festival of Thanksgiving at 4 o'clock p.m. The social standing of the contracting parties was sufficient to cause more than usual interest to be taken in the affair, and the residence of the bride's parents was crowded long before the appointed time for ceremony. Helen Spangle and Edwin North, of Canandaigua, young relatives of the bride, each carrying a basket of flowers, formed a passageway through the crowd with white ribbon, advancing until they stood near a beautiful festooned arch of evergreens and flowers. Those composing the bridal party soon followed, the groom's man being L. Whitney Bray, and bride's lady, Miss Claudene Gelder with Miss Emma Dougan acting as maid of honor to the bride. The Rev. Howard Cornell of the Presbyterian church performed the ceremony. | Family: F1539
